what is maitrī?

Maitrī [ noun. /m⋅eye⋅tree/ ] is a Sanskrit word (मैत्री) often translated as loving-kindness — a spirit of compassion, goodwill, and gentle care for all beings. The concept appears in early contemplative traditions, where it describes an attitude of openness, kindness, and connection cultivated within ourselves and towards others.

Inspired by this spirit of compassion and connection, Maitrī offers trauma-responsive programs designed to support nervous system wellbeing and emotional resilience through gentle movement, breath, and rest.

These spaces are invitational, restorative, and grounded in dignity, safety, and belonging — offering moments of calm, connection, and support within safe and supportive community spaces.
